What about your victim?

I know I haven't written in this for a long time because I have been afraid of getting caught and in trouble for it but today I really got my hide chapped!

So there's a guy in here who has just been diagnosed with metastatic colon cancer. I just received his referral to Oncology this morning and at the same time I also received a Health Services Request from this inmate with a simple note on it, "how about some treatment for my cancer before I die." Quaint eh???

I just shook my head and started preparing all the new referrals for faxing over to our UM management for approval and when I got to this particular inmate to look up his date of incarceration (01/1980) and the date of his release from the institution (08/2013) I figured that was a lot of years, what could he possibly be in here for????

L&L under 16 (Lewd & LIscivious acts with a person under the age of 16)
Kidnapping 1st (First degree kidnapping)
Assault Rape (pretty much explains itself)

So this guy is demanding that we provide him immediate treatment for his metastatic colon cancer, which by the time it gets metastatic you're pretty much a gonner. He is demanding that I be forced to use my tax dollars to cure him of a cancer I can guarantee he will die from anyway. Everyone's tax dollars......tons of tax dollars.......are going to be put into this guy just so that he can die in a year or two.........because if we don't, he's gonna call his lawyer.....and he's gonna call the Governor.......and he is gonna sue the state for not providing him adequate medical care, right now!!!

Well then.....I guess my question would be......who the hell do you think you are that you feel you are privaledged enough to make demands on me about your health and whether or not I should feel obligated to save your life???

What about his victim? What about when she/he demanded that he stop hurting her/him? As he was beating the living shit out of her/him and forcing her/him to endure every torture he could conceive of because she/he was weaker than him. And I really don't want to go into details because it just make me want to puke! Instead, I have set all my personal feelings aside and proceed on schedule with his care and push him to the front of the line for treatment.

And just so you know folks, these guys sometimes get treatments before your loved ones who may have just been diagnosed with a fatal disease and must wait until this inmate has completed his treatments before they can receive theirs.

Because of the bleeding hearts we have out there in the world who don't see the every day crap we have to put up with, these guys are allowed to get away with having more rights than you or I will ever see in our lifetimes!

If you voted against the death penalty or ever felt sorry for any of these guys in here, you are part of the problem. We need to start holding these people accountable for what they have done, otherwise we will continue to descend into a society and world without morals or ethics and pretty soon people will think its the norm and will willingly place their future generation's heads on the blocks.

That's my rant for the day! I really wish I could make this public!!
